Month of Sundays
After quite a hiatus, I’m back. Lots of stuff going on. Folsom this weekend, a class next month, but most importantly….
I’m starting a new photography project. Tentatively, the title is “A Month of Sundays,” since I was planning to shoot on Sundays, and do about 30 shoots. Anyways things have worked out differently and I am shooting mostly on Mondays and Wednesdays. The general idea is to do something a little different than the typical OMG SUSPENSIONZ photos that now litter Fetlife like Geico Billboards on the freeway. As with Patti B’s best Rope::Burn photos, I want to capture the connection between myself and the subject.
Have I gone soft? Maybe. But I’m liking the results so far, and the end goal is a really special publication in 2-2.5 years. In my mind, this project is professional, but not necessarily commercial. Erotic, but not erotica, pornographic but not pornography, and grotesque in the original sense of the word: primitive, simple, and raw.
Behind the cut are some tastes from the first test shoot with the talented (and beautiful) Lilac Wine as the photographer. Lilla Katt was the model. Lilac and Lilla know eachother well, I’ve worked with Lilla numerous times, and Lilac has both modeled for me and studied from me I think our previous experiences helped make this first shoot a great success.
